“Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.”
— Jeremiah 32:17
When Jeremiah prayed these words, the nation of Judah was in turmoil. Jerusalem was under siege, the future seemed hopeless, and yet God had asked Jeremiah to do something strange—to buy a field. To invest in land at such a time seemed absurd. But Jeremiah obeyed because he knew this truth: the Creator of heaven and earth has unmatched power, and nothing is too hard for Him.
Jeremiah’s declaration reminds us that trust is not anchored in what we see, but in who God is. If He could speak galaxies into existence with a word, if He could stretch out His hand and form mountains, rivers, and oceans, then surely He can handle the details of our lives. Creation itself is the testimony that our God does not know limitation. Every sunrise, every star, every breath you take proclaims His greatness.
So why do we still doubt? Because our eyes are fixed on circumstances rather than the Creator. Like Jeremiah, we often look around and see battles, brokenness, and burdens that feel impossible to carry. But faith looks upward. Faith remembers that the One who formed the universe still rules over it. The God who holds galaxies in place is more than able to hold you steady.
Consider how often Scripture ties God’s creative power to His saving power. When Israel stood before the Red Sea, Moses reminded them that the same God who made the seas could part them. When the psalmist cried out in despair, he found strength in the thought: “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:2). Creation is not just a backdrop—it is proof that the God we serve has no rival, no equal, no limit.
Jeremiah also connects God’s power to His outstretched arm. This phrase is more than poetic—it is personal. God does not create and then walk away. His arm reaches into human history, into your story, to redeem, restore, and rescue. His arm brought Israel out of Egypt, delivered Daniel from lions, and raised Jesus from the dead. That same arm is stretched toward you today.
So what is your “field purchase” moment? Where is God asking you to trust Him beyond what makes sense? Maybe it’s forgiving someone who hurt you, stepping into a new calling, believing for healing, or praying again for a breakthrough that feels delayed. Like Jeremiah, your act of faith may look small to the world, but it is a declaration that nothing is too hard for the Lord.
Trust in the Creator’s unmatched power today. When doubts rise, lift your eyes to the heavens He made. When fears grow, remember the outstretched arm that has never failed. And when you feel powerless, declare with Jeremiah: Nothing is too hard for You, Lord.
Lord, I stand in awe of Your unmatched power. You are the Creator of heaven and earth, and nothing is too hard for You. Help me to trust You when life feels overwhelming. Stretch out Your arm over my circumstances, and let my faith rest in Your greatness. May I live each day believing that the God who created all things is more than able to work all things for my good. Amen
